چکیده

We report a room-temperature photoinitiated polymerization-induced self-assembly (photo-PISA) of 2hydroxypropyl methacrylate (HPMA) in the presence of silica nanoparticles using a poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether (mPEG) macromolecular chain transfer agent (macro-CTA). Hybrid vesicles loaded with silica nanoparticles were obtained by this one-pot approach. The solids content of the polymer vesicles can be up to 25% w/w. A control experiment was conducted to prove that free silica nanoparticles can be removed via centrifugation-redispersion. Finally, CO2-responsive hybrid vesicles were prepared by photo-PISA of HPMA and 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA). Silica nanoparticles were subsequently released from the vesicles via CO2 bubbling at room temperature.

Loading of Silica Nanoparticles in Block Copolymer Vesicles during Polymerization-Induced Self-Assembly: Encapsulation Efficiency and Thermally Triggered Release

Poly(glycerol monomethacrylate)-poly(2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate) diblock copolymer vesicles can be prepared in the form of concentrated aqueous dispersions via polymerization-induced self-assembly (PISA). In the present study, these syntheses are conducted in the presence of varying amounts of silica nanoparticles of approximately 18 nm diameter. This approach leads to encapsulation of up to ...

Time-Resolved SAXS Studies of the Kinetics of Thermally Triggered Release of Encapsulated Silica Nanoparticles from Block Copolymer Vesicles

Silica-loaded poly(glycerol monomethacrylate)-poly(2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate) diblock copolymer vesicles are prepared in the form of concentrated aqueous dispersions via polymerization-induced self-assembly (PISA). As the concentration of silica nanoparticles present during the PISA synthesis is increased up to 35% w/w, higher degrees of encapsulation of this component within the vesicles ca...

Silica nanoparticle crystals and ordered coatings using lys-sil and a novel coating device.

Silica nanoparticles with a narrow particle size distribution and controlled diameters of 10-20 nm are synthesized via hydrolysis and hydrothermal aging of tetraethylorthosilicate in an aqueous L-lysine solution. Cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM) reveals that the silica nanoparticles assemble to form close-packed nanoparticle crystals over short length scales on carbon-coated gri...

Preparation of Novel Thin-Film Composite Nanofiltration Membranes for Separation of Amoxicillin

Several novel composite membranes were prepared to separate and recycle amoxicillin from pharmaceutical wastewater via nanofiltration process. The synthesis of these membranes included three stages: 1- preparation of polysulfone ultrafiltration membranes as a support via phase separation process, 2- modification of its surface by interfacial polymerization as a selective layer (polyamide), and ...
